The Purpose of Ayurveda
"Swasthasya Swastha Raksanam"
It means Protection of Health of a Healthy person
"Authurasya Vikara Prasanam"
It means to eradicate
diseases of a patient
In the modern age, weastern medical practice is based on bacteriology. Based on their opinion poisons medicines will destroy the bacteria and gets relief from the diseases. With these methods one gets temporary relief from the diseases. As the vitiated faces have not been purged out, the diseases is not eliminated completely. Further these poisonous medicines and bacteria will be left over in the body. These mix with the foul wind and become a breeding ground for many other diseases. What we learn from this medical system is that instead of eradicating diseases fully one becomes a permanent patient.
Ayurveda also described
about bacteria. But in this medical practice, instead of destroying bacteria,
the root cause of all bacteria namely vitiated faeces etc. are removed and purged
out from the body through various methods like - purgation, perspiration and
so on. With these methods the body gets rid of diseases completely and becomes
healthy. These methods are described in Ayurveda.
